I love a Jason Atherton restaurant and this is one is slightly more casual than the usual, so more appropriate for a date. However you have to make sure you like your date as it is a bit pricey, so maybe don’t take the blurred photo guy or girl off Tinder who won’t add you on Instagram or Facebook pre date…
The restaurant is within the very hip London Edition hotel just off of Oxford Street and is about as far from looking like a tavern as you can get. It’s very beautiful with ornate, high ceilings and chandeliers. The walls are covered in gold framed pictures of still life art, photographic portraits, and landscapes which looks altogether very impressive. It was really busy so you definitely have to book!
There is a limited cocktail list which is actually quite nice as you don’t spend ages choosing, I had an ‘Ageing Hipster’ which comes with it’s own hip flask and if you like ‘Old Fashioned’s’ you will love. The food is amazing and when you look at the menu a lot of it wouldn’t look out of place on a pub menu – e.g. Fish and Chips, Beef Burger, Pork Pie and Mac and Cheese but this is also teamed with slightly posher fair such as Chateaubriand and Lobster. I had Fillet Steak with Mac and Cheese on the side which was one of the best Mac and Cheeses I’ve ever had and with a cheese addiction this severe, that’s saying something!
The whole atmosphere despite being in such a grand venue is really relaxed and after dinner you can grab a drink in the hotel bar or move onto Punch Room their resident cocktail bar which I shall be reviewing shortly!
Dinner with Cocktails for 2 about £150.
